Name of Piece: Three Different Faces

What do you like about this piece? Vocab to consider (form, volume, composition, weight,)

First of all, i have never done a sculpture with separate pieces and it really sounds awesome. In my inspirational image we see like three small rocks with faces on them. Each rock has a different form, which makes the sculpture more interesting. Each of them can be hollowed and made with low weight. I love the composition of each small piece and it’s volume that can be reduced easily.

What do you think the artist saying through this piece?

The artist is expressing different moods or the fact that we are all different in this world. As you can see in the image, each rock has a different size and face, including eyes, nose, and mouth. We are all equal though, being demonstrated because all faces are made by the same material.

Reflection: What do you perceive to be the most challenging thing about constructing this sculpture? (3-5 sentences)

I perceive that the most challenging about this piece is going to be to make each head shape exactly the same and the fact that it’s small, the eyes, nose, and mouth are going to be challenging. Making them look exactly like the image i found on the internet will be a struggle, but we learn and improve with challenges. I will try to do my best using class tools to make the best sculpture i could make. It’s going to be an experience making a sculpture with separate pieces. So excited!

Day 2.

Reflection: I worked really hard in class today. You can see how i did all three faces, they just need some touches. Making the noses was the most difficult. I had to carefully bring up clay with my hands until they looked good, and avterward make two holes with a pencil. The mouth were made with the corner of a tool, i just had to make a line. The eyes were done in a samiliar way with a different tool, just that it was in a softer and shorter way. Believe it or not, after i am almost done, the most challenging was making the faces look rounded. As you can see, i still need to improve the face on top with it's rounding. I will keep on my hard work.

Day 3.

Reflection: Believe it or not, today was a hard working day. I thought i had done everything, but sometimes small details take time and dedication. I smoothened out all three faces and fixed the eyes, nose, and mouth of each. Also, i altered the order or location of each face in a way that it looks better, more professional. I love how one face is on top of the other, it gives the sculpture a touch of unity. How we were all born as brothers and sisters. This clay made it a bit hard for me to round the heads, since the clay itself is hard, so every 10 minutes i had to make the piece wet to stretch the head and make it skinnier. I left all three heads drying out, let's see how they turn out to look like.

Day 4.

Reflection: This is how my sculpture turned out to look like. All dy and clean. I'm extremely proud of what i accomplished to make, and beyond that, the meaning my piece has behind three faces. I think that by making this i'm not only inspiring myself, but other as well to notice how meaningful a sculpture can be. How each face is different represent how every single one of us is unique, but the fact that they are made by the same material shows we are all equal. How they are together on top of each other, represents that we are all brothers and sisters, so we should love each other. This is one of my most deep sculptures, i feel it sends a million of different messages to the world.
